In a significant step toward strengthening India’s EV infrastructure, Ather Energy has announced that it has surpassed 400 Ather Grid fast charging points across the state of Maharashtra. This milestone makes Ather one of the most prominent players in electric two-wheeler charging infrastructure in the region.
The fast-expanding network now covers 35 cities, including key urban hubs such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Nashik, and extends along crucial high-traffic corridors such as Mumbai–Pune, Pune–Satara, and Sangli–Kolhapur, supporting both city riders and highway commuters.
LECCS Compatibility Expands Accessibility
In addition to the Ather Grid chargers, the company has deployed over 220 LECCS-compatible chargers across Maharashtra. LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) is Ather’s open-source charging protocol, which allows interoperability with electric two-wheelers from other brands. This brings the total number of fast charging points in the state to more than 660.
LECCS chargers are publicly discoverable through Google Maps, making it easier for users to locate and access charging facilities conveniently.
Infrastructure to Support EV Adoption
To complement its charging network, Ather operates 64 Experience Centres and 42 Service Centres in 37 cities across Maharashtra, offering strong after-sales and retail support to its growing customer base. Nationally, Ather now manages over 3,300 Ather Grid fast chargers, making it one of the largest EV charging networks for two-wheelers in the country.
“A strong charging network builds rider confidence,” said Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy. “Crossing 400 fast chargers in Maharashtra reflects our commitment to eliminating range anxiety and enabling true EV freedom.”
Charging Speed and User Benefits
Ather Grid chargers can deliver up to 15 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes, significantly reducing downtime for users and enhancing convenience for daily commuters and long-distance riders alike.
As EV adoption grows across India, range anxiety remains a key concern. Ather’s charging expansion directly addresses this issue, enabling wider adoption across both metropolitan and semi-urban regions.
Future Outlook
Ather Energy plans to continue expanding its fast charging footprint both in Maharashtra and across India. The company is also focusing on encouraging interoperability through its LECCS protocol, ensuring that infrastructure growth benefits the entire two-wheeler EV ecosystem.
With government incentives, technological advancements, and growing consumer interest, Ather’s strategic infrastructure deployment is poised to play a central role in accelerating India’s electric mobility transition.
