In a landmark achievement for India’s electric mobility sector, Ather Energy Limited, one of the country’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has rolled out its 5,00,000th electric scooter from its Hosur manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The milestone vehicle was the company’s popular family scooter, the Ather Rizta, which has rapidly emerged as a key growth driver since its launch last year.
Ather Crosses a Major Milestone in India’s EV Revolution
Marking the significant milestone, Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, expressed pride in the company’s journey of innovation and quality-driven growth.
“Crossing 5,00,000 scooters is a major milestone for Ather. From our very first prototype to today, our journey has been about building not just vehicles, but a scalable, reliable, and consistent manufacturing ecosystem. This achievement reflects years of focused engineering, rigorous testing, and meticulous attention to quality at every stage of production. It also highlights the dedication of teams across the company and the trust and support of our owner community,” said Jain.
Since its inception, Ather Energy has steadily evolved into one of India’s most trusted electric scooter brands, offering a robust lineup of performance-oriented and family-friendly EVs. The Ather Rizta, in particular, has played a pivotal role in accelerating the company’s growth, contributing to more than one-third of total production within just a year of its launch.
Expanding Manufacturing Footprint to Maharashtra
Currently, Ather Energy operates two world-class manufacturing facilities in Hosur—one focused on vehicle assembly and the other on battery production—with a combined capacity of 4.2 lakh scooters annually.
To meet surging consumer demand and strengthen its national presence, Ather is setting up its third and most advanced manufacturing facility, called “Factory 3.0,” at Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
Developed under Industry 4.0 principles, Factory 3.0 will feature cutting-edge digital technologies, advanced automation, and smart manufacturing systems to enhance scalability and efficiency. The facility will be developed in two phases and, once operational, is expected to increase Ather’s total installed production capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers per year.
Strengthening Market Presence Across India
With its expanding manufacturing capabilities, Ather Energy continues to broaden its retail and service network across India, focusing on Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in addition to metropolitan hubs. This expansion strategy aims to make electric mobility more accessible to a wider audience while contributing to India’s clean energy and sustainable transportation goals.
Ather’s continued innovation, focus on quality, and expansion efforts position it as one of the key drivers of India’s EV transformation, reinforcing the nation’s shift toward an electric and environmentally responsible future.
