      Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a division of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M), celebrated the foundation stone laying and groundbreaking of their Customer Qualification Plant (CQP) in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar district.

      Distinguished guests attended the event, including ARE&M Chairman and Managing Director Jayadev Galla, Executive Directors Harshavardhana and Vikramadithya Gourineni, VP and Head of SSU Mahindra & Mahindra Ashish Jangale, Vice President and Head of Piaggio Vehicles India, and Steven Cai, Board Member and President EMEA. Other dignitaries in attendance included members of the government and business community.

      With a 1.5 GWh current capacity, phase 1 of the battery pack facility was launched. In addition to providing to significant EV OEMs, the plant produces Li-ion battery packs tailored for Indian conditions that are used for stationary energy storage needs. The CQP may generate different cell kinds for client testing and validation. It is scheduled to become live in Q1 of the upcoming fiscal year. Following ARE&M’s partnership with Gotion Inobat (GIB) for technology, manufacturing, and bespoke solutions, the project recently received a boost.

      The Giga Corridor which is spread across 260 acres of land will entail an investment of Rs 9,500 crore till 2031 and will include the advanced cell manufacturing Gigafactory along with battery pack facility. In addition, the company is also building a first-of-its kind advanced energy research and innovation center in Hyderabad, dubbed the ePositive Energy Labs.

      Along with the battery pack plant inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of the CQP, Amara Raja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piaggio. As part of this agreement, Amara Raja will collaborate

      with Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited to develop and supply LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) cells and chargers for its EV 3 Wheelers along with developing cells and battery packs for their upcoming 2-Wheeler offerings, produced locally. It had recently signed a MoU with Ather Energy as well.
