Acura’s upcoming electric vehicle, the RSX EV, has been spotted testing at a Tesla Supercharger station in Los Angeles, hinting at the brand’s progress toward seamless charging compatibility in the U.S. EV market. Recently published spy images show the camouflaged prototype plugged into the popular charging network, reinforcing expectations that Honda and Acura’s future electric models will support Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS).
Prototype Seen at Los Angeles Supercharger
Some sources captured the RSX EV prototype at a Southern California Supercharger, revealing several design cues despite the camouflage wrapping. The new electric SUV appears to continue Acura’s premium styling language with sharp contours, a sporty stance, and aerodynamic enhancements tailored for efficiency.
The test vehicle was reportedly charging using an adapter, hinting that Acura may be in the process of finalising full NACS integration ahead of the model’s anticipated debut.
Shift Toward Tesla’s NACS Charging Standard
Honda and Acura have previously announced their commitment to adopt Tesla’s NACS charging port for North American EVs starting in 2025. The RSX EV is expected to be among the early models benefiting from widespread Supercharger access, offering owners improved convenience and reduced range anxiety.
Industry observers say this sighting further confirms that Acura is accelerating testing to ensure its upcoming EV lineup can seamlessly interface with Tesla’s fast-charging infrastructure.
Expected Launch Timeline
While Acura has yet to formally unveil the RSX EV, reports suggest the electric SUV will be based on Honda’s newly developed global EV architecture. The model is expected to launch sometime in 2026, competing with premium electric SUVs from BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus.
As testing continues, more details on battery performance, range, and pricing are expected to emerge in the coming months.
