Action Carting Environmental Services, Inc. (“Action”), a prominent, vertically integrated provider of solid waste collection, disposal, and recycling services, announced that Oscar the Grouch, the most well-known trash enthusiast on Sesame Street, will accompany its first all-electric collection truck as it takes to the streets of New York City.
In an effort to encourage recycling and sustainability in the communities it serves, Action has partnered with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit that created the well-known Sesame Street, to start this initiative. It comes after Action was chosen as a designated hauler in NYC’s Commercial Garbage Zone programme, which is anticipated to cut truck traffic and garbage collection-related emissions in the city by 50% when completely implemented.
Action is just getting started with the all-electric Mack LR Electric, which features Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. The truck’s high battery capacity and regenerative braking technology allow it to reduce brake wear and increase range by converting energy from frequent stops on collection routes into more battery power. Apart from being substantially quieter than conventional trucks with engines and lowering noise pollution, it also integrates modern safety systems, drastically reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and enhances the quality of the air for people.
Mike DiBella, CEO of Interstate Garbage Services, Action’s parent business, stated, “The launch of our first electric truck is a testament to Action’s community-focused approach to sustainable waste management.” “Our switch to electricity is only getting started. We are enhancing our business and benefiting our community and environment with this investment.”
“No character appreciates picking up trash more than Oscar the Grouch,” said Jennifer Ahearn, Senior Vice President, Global Themes and Partnerships at Sesame Workshop. As Action works to make New York City greener and cleaner for all, we are thrilled to be working with them.
Josh Haraf, Market Vice President of New York City at Interstate Waste Services, stated, “This is an exciting moment for New York City sanitation and Action’s role in it.” “I’m proud of our team for putting cutting-edge technology into practice that improves the efficiency, safety, and cleanliness of waste collection. With Oscar the Grouch on board, we’re encouraging New Yorkers of all ages to recycle and maintain a clean city while also setting a new benchmark for sustainable trash management.”
