Chevrolet recently introduced the 2026 ZR1X, a 1,250-horsepower hybrid supercar that defies preconceptions about American performance cars and is the most extreme version of the Corvette to date. The ZR1X, which combines the power of a twin-turbo V8 with a potent electric front axle, is hailed as the most technologically sophisticated and powerful Corvette ever. It represents a significant advancement for the recognisable moniker.

Fundamentally, the ZR1X is powered by a brand-new LT7 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 1,064 horsepower—the most ever produced by an American automaker’s V8. An upgraded e-motor on the front axle, which was taken and modified from the Corvette E-Ray, adds 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque to that raw power, increasing the system’s output to an incredible 1,250 horsepower.

With a predicted quarter-mile time of less than nine seconds and an acceleration time of less than two seconds from 0 to 60 mph, GM engineers predict the ZR1X will be well on its way to becoming a hypercar. The ZR1X ensures complete eAWD performance for longer drag runs by extending the front motor’s disengagement limit to 160 mph, in contrast to the E-Ray’s 150 mph limit.

Chevrolet unveiled the J59 braking system, which has 10-piston front callipers and 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors, to control such amazing power. This configuration provides unparalleled responsiveness and thermal endurance. The ZR1X achieved new internal records for GM during racecourse testing when it decelerated from 180 to 120 mph at an incredible 1.9 G of braking force.

Engineered with motorsport-inspired versatility, the ZR1X features three innovative drive modes:

      • Endurance – optimizes eAWD output across an entire fuel tank
      • Qualifying – maximizes power for peak lap performance
      • Push-to-Pass – unleashes maximum power for overtaking

The ZR1X doesn’t skimp on comfort in spite of its intensity on the track and strip. With luxury materials, digital instruments that can be customised, and options like a high-downforce ZTK aero package and a choice between coupe and hardtop convertible variants, the new interior makes its premiere.

The ZR1X, which is manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky, combines international innovation with American workmanship. The 2026 Corvette ZR1X, which is anticipated to arrive in showrooms in late 2025, is the apex of GM’s electrification goals and Chevrolet’s performance heritage.
